Backpacking

We assembled our packs and headed up to the mountains to enjoy a beautiful Memorial Day. The best part was that we bought our little 80 lb. 7 month old doggie his own backpack (saddle bags). He carried his own food and water - and frisbee just in case things got dull. He loved every minute of it and was so well behaved. When we were hiking he'd look back at either Matt or I (whoever was in the back) to make sure we weren't falling too far behind. The weather was perfect, and our hamstrings were a burnin'.
Matt and his big guns make an appearance.

Enjoying the magestic scenery
What's a camping trip without a fire?

What's not to love?

What a fun trip! I love the pictures with Rocco. I'll bet he loved being in the out-of-doors and would have protected you against any wild life!We had fun with the girls and Ryan, Ali, and Patrick went hiking! Great Fun!

Love,
Mom

Whoa, Rocco is really agrowin' How much does he eat? He looks like the dogs in Harry Potter one. Are they Mastifs? I got to spend Mem. Day at Jon & Kaylene's new house. Awesome. Hope to see you this summer.

Fun!

Where did you guys go?
Where did Rocco sleep?

Did he stick close by you most of the time or did he venture off alone?

Thanks for the comments guys - we had a great time! Grandma - you're right, he is a mastiff, the actual name is a cane corso, but Hagrid's dog on Harry Potter is a Neopolitan mastiff and the breeds are cousins. He eats about 6 cups of dog food a day (plus anything else he can get his mouth on).

Ryan - we went up 285 to this smaller lesser known area. Rocco slept in our tent, but got cold and ended up in my sleeping bag. We'll work out a little jacket or doggie sleeping bag for our next venture.

He did stay by us, he was the most obedient I've seen him. He'd go around and smell things then come back to us and walk along side us. Then, if someone was lagging behind he'd stop and wait for us. He's a great hiker/camper!

Rocco is getting so big already! That's fun he got to go camping. I've always wanted to take Breleigh camping but haven't yet. We'll have to take a page out of your book :)
